Hardscaping in Lafayette, LA

Hardscape is the part of a landscape you use every day — the patio you eat dinner on, the walkway to the front door, the retaining wall that actually holds the bed back. Bloom Local designs and installs paver patios, stone walkways, retaining walls, and fire features for homes across Lafayette and Acadiana.

Patios, Walkways, Walls, and Fire Pits

Our most-requested Lafayette hardscape projects: paver patios (16×16 to 20×30 is typical), front walkway replacements, stone retaining walls to terrace sloped lots, outdoor kitchens with built-in grill surrounds, and paver fire pits. We work with concrete pavers, natural flagstone, and cut stone — happy to walk you through material choices at the consultation. Every project is built to Acadiana drainage standards and finished with polymeric joint sand that locks pavers together while allowing water to escape.

Why Bloom Local

South Louisiana's rain cycle destroys poorly installed hardscape. We do the part that matters — the base. A 6-inch compacted crushed-limestone base with proper pitch and edge restraints means your patio is still flat in ten years instead of heaving and sinking. Every project is built to drain water away from your home, which is more important here than in drier climates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pavers vs stamped concrete — which is better?

For our climate, we almost always recommend pavers. If one cracks from ground movement, you replace that single paver. Stamped concrete slabs crack and there's no good fix.

How long does a patio installation take?

A typical 300-square-foot paver patio takes 3–5 days from demo to final sweep.

Do you handle drainage issues?

Yes. Drainage is designed into every hardscape project from day one — we don't build on ground that puddles without solving the puddle first.
